Dr. Richard Gabayoyo, the current National Basketball Training Center’s (NBTC) area head for Western Visayas, successfully awarded the winners for the documentary making contest he initiated exclusively for athletes covering their life and experiences amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cande Van Sola bagged first place, Anikka Valenciana second, and KC Hilario got third place in the documentary making contest with the theme, “Journal of a Challenger: An Athlete’s Life and Game plan.”

Dr. Gabayoyo conceptualized the initiative after the community quarantine prohibited athletes from exercising their sport. He hopes that the documentary will serve as an avenue where the athletes can express their experiences.

Journal of a Challenger was sponsored by Chooks-to-Go, Ms. Grace Galusong, Ailyn Liguan, and was supported by Province of Guimaras’ Governor, Samuel T. Gumarin.

Aside from being the NBTC area head for WV, Dr. Gabayoyo is also the main head for Guimaras’ Players’ Center Sports Academy, commissioner and director for both Guimaras NBTC and SBP, the provincial director for Guimaras appointed by PEKAF, and the founder of Guimaras Volleyball Championship (GVC).
