ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police arrested the target of a drug buy-bust operation shortly after he escaped authorities on Monday afternoon, September 9, in Barangay Tiza.

John Marten Legaspi, 35, of Malipayon Village in Barangay Tiza, was cornered by officers at the back of Hercor College, about 500 meters from his house, an hour after evading arrest.

However, the Roxas City Police managed to arrest his two accomplices, Aldrin Bermudo, 36, of Barangay Tiza, and a man known only as alias Jemmer, 35, of Barangay 1, both from Roxas City.

Legaspi fled after realizing the person he was transacting with was a police officer.

Bermudo and Jemmer denied involvement in the use or sale of illegal drugs.

Police recovered three sachets of suspected shabu valued at P45,000, P5,000 in buy-bust money, and various drug paraphernalia from the two suspects.

Legaspi, Bermudo, and Jemmer are currently in the custody of the Roxas City Police for proper disposition.

Charges for violating RA 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against them.
