A suspected drug peddler was arrested following a police anti-narcotics operation on the evening of July 30 in Molo, Iloilo City.

Amador Florentino, 51, of Barangay San Juan, Molo, Iloilo City, was apprehended during a drug buy-bust at the nearby Zone 3, Barangay Boulevard.

Members of the Iloilo City Police Office – City Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-CDEU), together with Iloilo City Police Station 4, apprehended the suspect after he sold a sachet of suspected shabu for P7,500. He was subsequently found with 10 more sachets and other non-drug items.

Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Benitez, Jr., CDEU chief, said the seized drugs weighed around 50 grams with a standard drug price of P340,000.

The suspect was arrested following a two-week surveillance operation. Florentino, who was in tears, denied that the seized drugs belonged to him. He claimed that a certain Jepoy told him to dispose of the illegal drugs.

The suspect is now detained and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002). Police are considering filing another case against the suspect for resisting arrest.
