‘Drug runner’ yields P1.9M worth of ‘shabu’

BACOLOD CITY – A man was arrested in a drug buy-bust at Barangay Estefania here Sunday for possessing 240 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.920 million.

Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 2, identified the suspect as Mark Sy, 20, of Barangay 6.

Police also seized from Sy a .357-caliber revolver, P2,000 marked money, drug paraphernalia, and P1,500 cash.

Gabana said Sy was arrested at his sibling’s residence around 7:30 p.m.

“He is considered as an alleged drug runner who is tasked to distribute items to his clients in Barangays 2, 6, 8, Banago, and Estefania,” the station commander added.

Gabana said Sy refused to identify his source.

Gabana said that Sy has been into the illegal drug trade since he was 17 years old, adding that he considered him as a high value individual, whom they have monitored for almost a month.

Gabana said they will also probe Sy’s alleged links with a drug group due to the volume of the drug recovery. He will be facing charges for sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs, illegal possession of drug paraphernalia, and illegal possession of firearm.

Meanwhile, Sy said that he had no other ways to earn, that’s why he resorted to illegal drug peddling.

He said he planned to reform but he had no choice because of their abject poverty.

He also confirmed the list of his alleged clients that was recovered by police during the operation.

He added that the seized firearm was pawned to him.
