Drug surrenderer found dead in President Roxas

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 39-year-old drug surrenderee was discovered deceased on the morning of Saturday, February 17, near a fishpond in Brgy. Marita, President Roxas, Capiz.

Police identified the victim as Eduardo Bermejo from the aforementioned village.

The President Roxas Municipal Police Station received information from a concerned citizen about the victim, who was in a state of decomposition. He was positively identified by his father through the clothing he was wearing.

The family reported that Bermejo was last seen on February 13 and had not returned home since.

Upon examination, the police found injuries on his body, but it has not yet been determined whether these were the cause of death.

Police records indicate that Bermejo was incarcerated for violating Republic Act 9165 in 2015 and was released in the middle of the previous year.

He was arrested and imprisoned for the same offense but was released in December 2023.

The Scene of Crime Operatives (SOCO) are actively investigating the incident to determine the cause and motive of the killing.
