BACOLOD City – Two cousins were injured after they stabbed each other due to drunkenness at Barangay Ara-al, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Wounded were Jimmy Lima, 49, and Ronelo Lima, 42, both residents of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said the two cousins were having a drinking session at their quarters when a heated argument ensued between them.
Fellow workers pacified the cousins and told them to go home.
But Ronelo, who was armed with a knife, went to Jimmy’s house and confronted him, Guadalupe said.
As Jimmy went out of his house, also armed with a cane cutter and knife, Ronelo allegedly stabbed him in the abdomen and back.
Jimmy was able to retaliate, hitting Ronelo in his chest and abdomen.
Guadalupe said that the cousins had no grudges against each other.
“Dahil lang siguro sa nakainom sila pareho,” he added.
Ronelo’s brother turned over two kitchen knives to the police.
Guadalupe said both victims were taken to a hospital.
