The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Region 6 on Tuesday announced that it will temporarily withhold the cash grants for 87,728 households under the government’s conditional cash transfer program.
The reason?
“They are no longer considered as non-poor households,” Atty. May Rago Castillo, DSWD-6 regional information officer, said.
In an advisory, DSWD-6 said that it temporarily held back the giving of cash grants for June-July or Period 3 until they finish their ongoing validation of the non-poor households based on the National Household Targeting System for Poverty Reduction (NHTS-PR), more popularly known as the Listahanan survey.
“We would like to clarify that this action doesn’t mean the automatic cancellation of those households that were temporarily put on hold,” Castillo said.
She also assured that they would give an update on the result of their validation.
Most of these on-hold 4Ps households are in Iloilo, to include Iloilo City, with 24,479; Negros Occidental, to include Bacolod City, with 23,799; Capiz with 18,689; Antique with 8,838; Aklan with 8,715; and Guimaras with 3,304.
4Ps has around 300,000 beneficiaries all over Western Visayas.
Castillo said cash grants for the remaining beneficiaries will be given.
On August 2022, the DSWD-6 has already announced the delisting of more than 87,000 households.
But in the same interview, the DSWD-6 acting regional director announced that there are around 134,930 new poor households eyed as potential 4Ps beneficiaries.
The said number was based on the Listahanan survey.
