The Local Government Unit of Tubungan, led by Mayor Roquito G. Tacsagon, hosted the Tubong Negosyo Business Forum in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and other key entities.
The event, organized by the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) under Mrs. Marlyn T. Tagudar, provided a platform for local entrepreneurs and attracted numerous micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) preparing for business permit applications and renewals.
The forum emphasized streamlining the business process flow, offering entrepreneurs clear guidance on regulatory compliance. These efforts aimed to empower business owners to navigate the necessary requirements with confidence.
DTI played a pivotal role, with Ma. Dorita D. Chavez, Division Chief of DTI Iloilo, discussing consumer rights advocacy and trade fair laws. Her presentation educated MSMEs on ethical business practices, consumer protection, and fair competition.
In addition, a Fair Trade Laws inspection was conducted by Romil F. Maro, Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist, to ensure local establishments complied with national standards on pricing, labeling, and fair-trade practices. These initiatives reinforced consumer trust while promoting business integrity in Tubungan.
Negosyo Center (NC) Tubungan enhanced the forum with discussions on the business name registration process and the benefits of enrolling in the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) program.
MSMEs received guidance on registration procedures to secure formal recognition, a critical step for accessing government assistance and market opportunities.
The BMBE program was highlighted as a valuable option for small-scale businesses, offering tax incentives and training opportunities to foster growth and sustainability.
The forum was attended by several local representatives, including Vice Mayor Leo Cezar Taypen, SFO3 John Paul D. Ituriaga, Acting Municipal Fire Marshal; SFO1 Jonathan G. Grasparil, Deputy Fire Marshal; Mrs. Lizell Camiring, Sanitation Inspector II; Mrs. Ma. Gene Alison, Acting Municipal Treasurer; and representatives from the Land Bank of the Philippines-Miagao.
The Tubong Negosyo Business Forum served as a vital platform for fostering an informed and empowered MSME community in Tubungan.
By bringing together DTI, NC Tubungan, and other local stakeholders, the event strengthened the partnership between the government and the private sector.
