San Lorenzo’s Consumer Organization underwent a significant transformation on May 12, 2023 with the assistance of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Guimaras and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Lorenzo.

This reorganization is part of a province-wide initiative to strengthen municipal consumer groups and promote consumer awareness.

“With the reorganization of SLCA, DTI Guimaras anticipates their vital and proactive role in advancing the welfare and protecting the rights of consumers.” DTI-Guimaras Director Mutya D. Eusores said.

The event was attended by 25 individuals, including sectoral organizations and barangay council members who were instrumental in creating the new San Lorenzo Consumer Association (SLCA).

The DTI provided insights into consumer rights and responsibilities, as well as the essential roles and functions of consumer organizations.

The session helped participants understand the importance of protecting their rights and responsibilities, and they subsequently elected new officers.

The SLCA now consists of 25 members representing various sectoral organizations and barangay council members.

The DTI Guimaras aims for the SLCA to take an active role in advocating for consumer welfare and protecting consumer rights. This initiative marks a significant step forward in ensuring that consumers in San Lorenzo and the province of Guimaras receive the protection they deserve.
