DTI Guimaras Promotes Consumer Rights at School

The DTI Guimaras Consumer Protection team, the local Consumer Organization, and students and teachers of Nueva Valencia National High School.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Guimaras Consumer Protection team, in collaboration with the local Consumer Organization, launched the Kickoff Consumer Advocacy in School Communities at Nueva Valencia National High School.

The event gathered 40 Grade 11 students who actively participated in discussions, particularly during an engaging Q&A session.

The program covered key topics, including consumer rights and responsibilities, the Price Act, and the process for filing consumer complaints.

This advocacy initiative was part of the World Consumer Rights Day celebration on March 15, 2025, themed “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.”

In line with this theme, the team shared practical and sustainable habits that students can adopt to help protect the environment.

Alongside consumer education, the Nueva Valencia Negosyo Center conducted a session on financial literacy to guide students toward financial independence and informed decision-making.

The DTI Guimaras team was pleased with the students’ enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.

School officials welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude for the agency’s efforts in bringing consumer awareness to the school community.

The program’s success not only benefited students but also fostered a culture of consumer awareness and financial literacy within the broader school community.
