The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that its One Town, One Product (OTOP) program generated over PHP 1.6 million in sales during Manila FAME 2024. The OTOP pavilion showcased the exceptional craftsmanship of 30 Filipino micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), featuring products made from sustainable materials that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines.
Held from October 17 to 19 at the World Trade Center, the event highlighted products ranging from fashion, furniture, lighting, and home décor to houseware, food, and gifts. Curated food gift packages emerged as the top-selling category during the event.
With the theme “Reimagination,” this year’s Manila FAME celebrated the blend of sustainability and aesthetics, showcasing innovative products that balance form and function.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. attended the second day of the event and emphasized the importance of the creative sector in driving the Philippine economy while commending Filipino talent for its global appeal.
“Our design community has achieved world-class status and often surpasses it. With the government’s support, we are bringing Filipino talent to the world market,” the President said.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos also graced the trade show, reaffirming the government’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and supporting Filipino artisans and entrepreneurs.
DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the Department’s dedication to empowering Filipino creatives and MSMEs.
“We at the DTI-Bagong Pilipinas are committed to boosting Filipino entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth, positioning the Philippines as a global creative powerhouse,” Roque said.
The DTI’s OTOP Philippines program is a government initiative designed to strengthen the local economy by supporting Filipino artisans and entrepreneurs nationwide. This program provides assistance in product development, capacity building, and expanding access to domestic and international markets.
The initiative also promotes private-public collaboration and offers financing opportunities, helping local MSMEs maximize the use of indigenous materials, creativity, and local talent.
Through OTOP Philippines, the DTI offered participating “OTOPreneurs” valuable exposure to both local and international markets at this year’s Manila FAME.
