Games on Tuesday
4 p.m. – Akari vs Choco Mucho (best-of-3 for bronze)
6:30 p.m. – Petro Gazz vs Creamline (best-of-3 for gold)
The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Finals is set to ignite on Tuesday, April 8, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers battling the surging Petro Gazz Angels in a highly anticipated best-of-three showdown.
The Cool Smashers, winners of the last four PVL titles and holders of 10 championships in 13 Finals appearances, are gunning for an unprecedented five-peat as they continue to define excellence in Philippine volleyball.
Standing in their way are the hungry and revitalized Angels, who are making a bold return to the Finals after sweeping the semifinal round—highlighted by a resounding four-set win over the same Creamline squad they now face in the championship series.
“Creamline gets better with age – like the finest wine – seasoned, smooth and supremely confident,” the league release noted, while adding that Petro Gazz “is bubbling with belief, ready to uncork what the Angels believe is their moment of destiny.”
Petro Gazz head coach Koji Tsuzurabara has led a team peaking at the right time, with standout performances from Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips and Jonah Sabete, supported by reliable contributors off the bench like Joy Dacoron, Aiza Pontillas, Ranya Musa and Nicole Tiamzon.
“We’re rallying behind Brooke since this is her first Finals,” said Pablo, who has rediscovered her form just in time for the most important stage of the season.
Van Sickle, the Angels’ explosive scorer, will play her first-ever Finals series, and her teammates are determined to make it count.
Petro Gazz’s depth, energy and hunger have been their edge this season, and they believe this series marks their breakthrough moment.
But the challenge is steep.
Creamline has not lost a single All-Filipino Conference title since the format was introduced in early 2023, and the Cool Smashers have built a reputation for thriving in high-pressure moments.
After losing to Petro Gazz in the semifinals, Creamline stormed back with statement sweeps over the Akari Chargers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans to secure another Finals berth.
For Creamline’s veteran core of Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos, Bernadeth Pons, Bea de Leon and Pangs Panaga, Finals appearances are second nature.
Pons has been a key catalyst in Creamline’s playoff push, attacking fearlessly and defending relentlessly, while Carlos—an ex-MVP—has delivered both offensively and on the block.
Setter Kyle Negrito continues to anchor the team’s offense, creating scoring opportunities across the board with her pinpoint sets.
“Michele Gumabao, Lorie Bernardo, and Rosemarie Vargas are more than just substitutes—they’re momentum-shifters,” noted Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses, who also lauded the team’s composure and chemistry.
Even as star spiker Jema Galanza deals with health concerns, the team’s bench strength and system continue to hold firm.
“This is where we belong,” Meneses said in an earlier interview. “We’ve worked all season for this moment—to defend our crown and keep the legacy alive.”
The PVL Finals isn’t just a battle for a championship—it’s a clash of eras and ethos: Creamline’s dynasty vs Petro Gazz’s rising destiny.
Game 1 of the gold medal series starts at 6:30 p.m. following the 4 p.m. bronze medal match between Choco Mucho and Akari.
With both teams stacked with star power, tactical brilliance and unwavering resolve, this series promises to be a classic—one for the PVL history books.
