A popular name will be reviving the hopes of the Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) Generals in the upcoming NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament.
Jerson Cabiltes, one of the most legendary names in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), Filbasket, VisMin Super Cup, and the PBA D-League, will be tasked to revamp the basketball program of the Generals after another disappointing end in the NCAA season.
The amiable head coach immediately exploded in the MPBL after leading Nueva Ecija to multiple championship titles including a sweeping season last 2022.
However, this will become an entirely different battlefield for Cabiltes who will be handling a team that is still figuring out its identity since joining the NCAA last Season 85.
The Generals are yet to punch a Final Four ticket in their long tenure in the NCAA and will look to break their losing spell this season when coach Cabiltes takes over.
“Nasubukan na nating lahat to the professional to the semi-professional league to high school, nakapag-champion tayo. Now, sa EAC ita-try natin gawin ulit yan ditto,” said Cabiltes during his interview with the Tiebreaker Times.
Multiple sources confirmed that Cabiltes already signed his contract with the Generals at the Emerald Garden Restaurant on Roxas Boulevard.
Present during the contract signing were EAC president Dr. Jose Paulo Campos, and Nueva Ecija’s team owner Mr. Bong Cuevas.
It was also confirmed that Cabiltes will be architecting the Generals’ long-term basketball plans after securing a three-year deal with EAC.
Cabiltes will be taking over the duties of Oliver Bunyi who resigned as the team’s chief tactician after the end of the NCAA Season 98.
“Big challenge for me ito. Our goal is to make the Final Four in our first year and go beyond that after,” added Cabiltes.
