BACOLOD CITY – The commissioning of the new power transformer at the Alijis substation is expected to happen earlier than planned after Negros Power completed the assembly of its accessories and other necessary requirements ahead of schedule.
Negros Power announced in a press statement on Friday that while the energization was initially scheduled for Monday, September 2, the transformer may become operational as early as Sunday morning, September 1.
The new 18 MegaVolt Amperes (MVA) power transformer will support the 10 MVA mobile substation installed by Negros Power at the Alijis Substation, which was energized last Monday.
The new transformer will supply electricity to six feeders of the Alijis Substation, with a capacity reaching 16.5 MegaWatts (MW).
However, portions of Alijis Feeders 2 and 6 will remain connected to the Reclamation and ASDES-Gonzaga Substations’ feeders to address their supply shortfall.
The energization process is scheduled to begin at 4 a.m. and will continue until 8 a.m.
During this period, a temporary power outage will occur to ensure the safety of the facilities and personnel working on-site and to facilitate the integration of electricity from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
As the switching process is conducted, power supply will be gradually restored to the affected areas before 8 a.m.
