Eight ex-NPA rebels get P80,000 cash aid in NegOr

BACOLOD City – The Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC) turned over a total of P80,000 worth of financial assistance to eight former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental last Tuesday.

Each rebel returnee received P10,000 each from the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) during the ceremonial distribution at the City Mayor’s Office in Barangay Poblacion.

The cash assistance is part of the CSWD’s Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

One of the former rebels thanked the government for accepting and providing them the assistance.

The Army’s 62nd Infantry Brigade (IBde), in a statement, said that it will continue its partnership and support to the government’s initiative intended for the former rebels to bring more programs and projects for the sustainment of peace and development in Central Negros.
