BACOLOD City – Police are verifying if the gun of a retired soldier has a valid license after he was arrested for alleged illegal gun discharge at Barangay Tabu, Ilog in Negros Occidental last Saturday, Jan 1, 2022.
Police Captain Thurslie Castillo, town police chief, said 45-year-old Rubin Vidal figured in an altercation with his wife on New Year’s Day, prompting him to fire his gun.
Vidal’s wife then called for assistance from a councilor, who later responded to the couple’s house.
“Ga maoy na siya kuno even before pa nag-abot ang police,” Castillo said.
Police recovered from the scene a .45-caliber pistol, and three magazines with nine live ammunitions.
Castillo said Vidal was also reported to be drunk when the incident happened.
Castillo said they will subject Vidal to paraffin test to confirm the allegation against him.
Charges for illegal discharge of firearm is being readied against Vidal, who has yet to be reached for comment.
