A former security guard was arrested for illegally possessing a handgun late afternoon of Jan. 2 in Jaro, Iloilo City.
Alias Robert yielded a caliber .45 pistol at a police checkpoint along Coastal Road at Barangay Bitoon, Jaro.
According to reports, police flagged down Robert who was driving a motorcycle. At that time, police noted that he was wearing a pair of green camouflage pants.
He was then asked to present his driver’s license.
When the suspect opened his sling bag, police saw a firearm inside.
He was asked for documents pertaining to his possession of a gun but the suspect failed to present any.
He was subsequently arrested and put in detention at the Iloilo City Police Station 3 lock-up cell.
Robert will be charged with violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
