A former policeman was arrested late afternoon of August 26 for illegally possessing a firearm.
Officers of the Miag-ao Police Station collared Ronald Palmos at Barangay Kirayan Sur, Miag-ao town 5:20 pm of Wednesday.
The 48-year-old Palmos, a resident of Hinolan St., Barangay Baybay Sur, Miagao, Iloilo but temporarily residing at Kirayan Sur village, yielded a caliber .45 pistol (CZ 97B Made in Czech Republic, serial no. A1293) with a magazine loaded with eight ammunition.
The team led by Police Executive Master Sergeant Francisco Fajarillo and Police Lieutenant Gina Fernandez proceeded to the area following complaints that the suspect had a gun tucked in his waist.
The suspect failed to present a valid License to Own and possess Firearm (LTOPF), permit to carry outside residence (PTCFOR), or any pertinent documents authorizing him to carry his firearm.
The suspect is now detained and will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
