BACOLOD CITY — A 33-year-old woman was arrested again in Barangay 7 here last Saturday for allegedly returning to the illegal drug trade.

Police Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr., head of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), identified the suspect as alias “Danilyn” from the same village.

CDEU operatives confiscated 475 grams of suspected shabu, valued at PHP3.32 million, from the suspect.

Benitez said the operation was launched after they received information a month ago that the suspect had allegedly resumed engaging in the illegal drug trade.

He added that the suspect was tagged as a high-value individual. She had previously been arrested for a drug offense and is currently under probation.

Police also recovered PHP2,000 in marked money, a digital weighing scale, and PHP300 from the suspect.

Earlier this week, the CDEU seized PHP6.8 million worth of suspected shabu from a 24-year-old man in Barangay 12 on October 17.

In addition, authorities confiscated nearly PHP10 million worth of suspected shabu in various operations against illegal drugs in the city two weeks ago.

These large volumes of illegal drugs were part of a series of buy-bust operations conducted by the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the city, especially during the ongoing 45th MassKara Festival.

City police are intensifying efforts to prevent the possible proliferation of illegal drugs with the anticipated influx of visitors to the festival.
