ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A former inmate was charged Tuesday, May 6, for illegal drug trading following his arrest in a buy-bust operation conducted Sunday afternoon, May 4, in Barangay Dayao.
Police Chief Master Sgt. Ramil Arcangeles, public information officer of the Roxas City Police Station, said charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, were filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspect, alias Bryle, 27, of Barangay Dayao.
Recovered from the suspect were five sachets of suspected shabu, including the one used in the transaction, PHP3,000 in buy-bust money and a coin purse.
The suspect was previously arrested in 2018 for drug use and pushing but was released in 2020 after availing of a plea bargaining agreement.
Arcangeles said the suspect, considered a high-value individual, was under surveillance for a month after police received reports he had returned to his illegal activities.
He added that the suspect tested positive for drug use following a confirmatory test.
“As of now, we have a list of his suppliers and contacts of his clients,” Arcangeles said.
The suspect is currently detained at the Roxas City Police Station pending further legal proceedings.
