Experience vs. Youth in ICTSI Eagle Ridge Showdown

A generational showdown is set as the second leg of the ICTSI Philippine Golf Tour tees off today, March 10, at the challenging Faldo Course of Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in General Trias, Cavite.

Veterans lead one side, with Pradera Verde champion Angelo Que and five-time PGT Order of Merit winner Tony Lascuña proving that experience, composure, and game knowledge remain powerful assets.

On the other side, rising stars like Carl Corpus, PGT Q-School low medalist Jaehyun Jung, and other young talents are eager for a breakthrough win in this year’s circuit, organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments Inc.

Will Experience or Youth Prevail?

Que enters as the heavy favorite, fresh off his commanding six-shot victory in Pampanga. At 46, he remains confident in his ability to dominate younger competitors.

“I still believe I can win against these young guys,” said Que. “I’ve got the experience, the mental toughness, and my game feels great.”

However, he acknowledges the PHP2 million tournament, sponsored by ICTSI, will be a tough challenge over four days of play.

Corpus, who impressed with a runner-up finish in his PGT debut, is eager to capitalize on his momentum.

“I’m really excited to have another opportunity to showcase all the hard work I’ve put in for another week of competitive golf,” said Corpus, who is familiar with the par-72 layout.

“The last time I played the Faldo Course was during my junior years, and I still have fond memories of it. What excites me most is the unique challenge it offers—one of the things I love about professional golf. Every course is different, and it’s always a test of skill and strategy.”

The Young Guns Ready to Compete

Joining Corpus in the youth movement is Korean standout Jaehyun Jung, who finished third at Pradera and remains a serious contender after topping the PGT Q-School.

“I’m pretty confident with how I’m playing at the moment with that Top 3 finish at Pradera,” said Jung, 19. “It’s definitely a confidence booster. I know if I make some putts this week, I can win.”

Other young contenders include Aidric Chan, Lloyd Go, Sean Monsalve, and Hyun Ho Rho, all capable of shaking up the leaderboard.

Veterans Bank on Experience

While young players bring energy and ambition, the veterans have a key advantage—mental toughness under pressure.

“You can have all the talent in the world, but winning takes a different kind of mental strength,” said Lascuña in Filipino. “That’s where experience matters.”

With Reymon Jaraula, Guido van der Valk, Michael Bibat, and Keanu Jahns also in the mix, the battle between generations could turn into a multi-player war.

For Que, every victory sends a clear message: the veterans aren’t done just yet.
