F2 Logistics Cargo Movers survived a late rally from a tough and resilient Petron squad, 25-22, 25-19, 17-25, 22-25, 15-12, and defended their Philippine Superliga Invitational title.
Leading two sets to none, the Petron squad sensed urgency and began to take over the match, firing from all cylinders including breathtaking saves from Sisi Rondina that brought the crowd to their feet, bringing momentum to their side.
Petron managed to equalize the game to 2 sets all, but the veteran Cargo Movers team’s chemistry showed up in the clutch.
Kalei Mau blitzed into a run of her own, putting the team behind her shoulders giving F2 a 9-4 lead at the start of the fifth and deciding set.
It then took a collective effort from the rest of the team to ice and nail the game, where Abby Maraño, Majoy Baron, and Kianna Dy showed up and secured the championship.
With one of the most prized rivalries in the PSL, the five-setter grudge match will go down in history as one of the best finals played.
The championship loss was the only loss of the Petron squad the whole tournament, where they were the favorites, but F2’s firepower was just too much.
