A farmer was arrested during a firearm raid on the morning of September 27 in Leon, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspect as Leonardo Camallan, 48, a resident of Barangay Tacuyong Sur, Leon.

Members of the Leon Municipal Police Station arrived at the suspect’s home around 7:30 a.m. on Thursday to execute Search Warrant No. 25-06-2024 for violating Republic Act 10591, the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The warrant was issued by Judge Rose Edith G. Togonon of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) 6 Branch 25, Iloilo City.

During the operation, police recovered a .45 caliber pistol with a magazine loaded with eight rounds of ammunition, an inside holster, and a sling bag.

Captain John Predic Padilla, chief of the Leon police, said the operation was prompted by numerous complaints against Camallan.

He had been the subject of complaints for illegal discharge of a firearm and threats, though most complaints had been lodged only at the barangay level.

With his arrest, Camallan now faces legal proceedings in court.
