Farmer Caught With Gun, Grenade in Iloilo

A 40-year-old farmer was arrested after authorities found a firearm and a grenade during a raid at his home in Barangay Lico in Alimodian, Iloilo on the morning of March 22.

Police identified the suspect only by his alias, Joebert, a resident of the said village.

The operation was carried out by Alimodian Municipal Police Station and the 1st Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company.

The raid was based on Search Warrant No. SW39-0802005 for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

Judge Victorino Maniba Jr. of the Regional Trial Court Branch 6 issued the search warrant on March 21, 2025.

Recovered from the suspect’s house were a 12-gauge break-type shotgun with three rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade.

In a related operation in San Jose, Antique, another man was arrested in a separate gun raid on the same day.

The suspect, identified as alias Lando, 34, is a resident of Barangay Funda Dalipe, San Jose.

San Jose Municipal Police operatives recovered a caliber .38 revolver with four rounds of ammunition during the operation.

Both suspects are now in police custody and are facing charges for violating RA 10591.
