Farmer Killed by Cousin in Stabbing Incident

BACOLOD CITY — A drinking session ended in tragedy when a farmer was allegedly stabbed to death by his cousin in Sitio Upper Initihan, Barangay Codcod, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, on Monday.

Police identified the victim as 52-year-old Edie Albios.

According to authorities, Albios and his 62-year-old cousin were drinking together at a gathering at Albios’ house.

Later, Albios accompanied the suspect to the latter’s home.

Soon after, individuals nearby heard cries for help and rushed to the suspect’s house, where they reportedly witnessed the suspect attacking Albios with a knife, striking him in the chest.

Relatives intervened, and Albios was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect later surrendered at the barangay hall and was taken into custody by police. The knife used in the attack was also recovered.

Police indicated that a misunderstanding between the victim and suspect may have led to the incident.

The suspect will be released from custody if no charges are filed against him within the 36-hour reglementary detention period.
