ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 56-year-old farmer died after his firearm accidentally discharged while cleaning it Tuesday morning at Barangay West Villaflores in Maayon, Capiz.

Police identified the victim as Harry Madahan who was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

An investigation by the Maayon police indicated that the victim was cleaning his 12-gauge shotgun when it accidentally went off.

Madahan’s son informed the neighbors about the incident after he heard gunfire from his father’s room.

The son said that he saw his father cleaning his gun inside his room.

He later saw his father on the floor with blood oozing from his head.

The police recovered from the crime scene a long-barrelled shotgun, an empty shell, and another live ammunition of the same caliber.

The family refused the autopsy on the victim as they believe there was no foul play in his death.
