Farmer shot dead in Tapaz, Capiz

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — A 43-year-old farmer was shot and killed by a fellow farmer on Wednesday evening, September 18, in Barangay Abangay, Tapaz, Capiz.

The Tapaz police identified the victim as “Berto” from the same barangay, while the suspect, known as “Tonyo,” 36, hails from Barangay Nayawan, Tapaz.

According to the Tapaz Municipal Police Station’s investigation, the victim was walking outside the civic center of Abangay around 12:30 p.m. when the suspect, who was standing beside a multicab vehicle, placed his left hand on the victim’s shoulder.

Moments later, the suspect shot the victim in the chest with a 12-gauge pistol-type homemade shotgun.

The suspect immediately fled in an unknown direction.

Bystanders rushed the victim to Tapaz District Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
