The victim was identified as Gerald Magarso Malones, 35, a resident of Barangay Panalian Maasin, Iloilo.

Captain Alwin Salmon, Janiuay police chief, said Malones had a heated argument with a certain Rubini Paurillo Tubis, also a resident of Ubian village, immediately prior to the incident.
“We’re still trying to ascertain what triggered the verbal tussle between them,” he said.

Tubis immediately fled and remains at large, as of this writing.
Maloney was brought to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town but was pronounced dead on arrival.
