BACOLOD CITY – Police apprehended a 43-year-old man and his 25-year-old son last Monday in Sitio Ulay, Barangay Prosperidad, San Carlos City, after seizing 36.8 grams of suspected shabu valued at approximately P250,240.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Nazer Canja, the city’s police chief, reported that the arrests followed a two-week surveillance operation spurred by community tips about the duo’s suspected illegal activities.
Authorities also confiscated a .45 caliber handgun, a magazine, five live rounds, and P3,500 in marked money from the suspects.
“The firearm was reportedly possessed by the younger suspect, presumably for protection connected to their illicit activities,” Lt. Col. Canja noted.
Described as street-level operatives, both individuals will face charges related to the sale and possession of dangerous drugs. Additional charges concerning the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition will be directed specifically at the son.
