A father and his son accused of murder in Laua-an town in Antique were arrested afternoon of May 11, 2021 in Rizal province in Luzon.
Nestor Aretaño, 64, and his son, Renier, were collared at Sitio Mata, Barangay Palangoy, Binangonan, Rizal around 1 p.m. of Tuesday.
The duo used to reside at Barangay Leon, Laua-an but later moved to Mahabang Parang village in Angono, Rizal before their arrest.
Police reports indicated that the arrest was carried out by officers of the Laua-an Police Station, Antique Maritime Police Station, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Antique Provincial Field Unit, Antique Police Provincial Office-Provincial Intelligence Unit (APPO-PIU), the Regional Intelligence Unit 6, and the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group based in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
Renier is Laua-an’s most wanted man while his father is ranked sixth on the most wanted list.
The suspects were allegedly involved in a shooting and hacking incident that led to the death of a 50-year-old man at Barangay Leon, Laua-an in April 2015.
The incident also wounded a barbeque vendor who was hit by a stray bullet.
No bail was recommended for the suspects’ temporary liberty.
The Aretaños are presently under the custody of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group in Camp Crame and will be turned over to the court concerned.
