BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran, head of the local Inter-Agency Task Force against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) here, said that IATF Visayas chief implementer Melquiades Feliciano is set to leave the city after almost two months of leading the city government’s fight against COVID-19.

Feliciano was sent by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte here after Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia asked for help due to the rapid spike in COVID-19 cases in the city.

Feliciano ended his stint in the city’s fight against COVID-19 Thursday, but will proceed to San Carlos City, according to Familiaran.

He said San Carlos City also asked the help of Feliciano due to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the area.

Familiaran said the city government is thankful to Feliciano whom they credited for the successful containment of the spread of the virus firstly through the establishment of the Emergency Operations Center.

“He is results-oriented,” Familiaran said.

The vice mayor also said that while Feliciano leaves Bacolod, anti-COVID interventions are already in place.
