Iloilo’s most beautiful mall, Festive Walk Iloilo, is adorning its buildings and busy streets with handmade parols or traditional Filipino lanterns handcrafted by Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) as it welcomes mall-goers this Holiday season.
Over 750 hand-made parols of different sizes handcrafted by PDLs from BJMP Iloilo and BJMP Negros will be the main star of the mall’s Sparkling Parade of Holiday Lights, which will light up a stretch of Festive Walk Parade.
The colorful lanterns measuring from 2 feet to six feet in height are priced from Php250 to Php5,000, with the proceeds going directly to the PDLs in BJMP Iloilo and BJMP Negros.
In partnership with the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Iloilo and the Iloilo City government, Festive Walk Iloilo will light up the parol as a symbol of hope and positivity among the Ilonggo community.
“We at Festive Walk Iloilo believe in the optimism and fighting spirit of Ilonggos. We hope that these lanterns will inspire the public to help in recovering and rebuilding the community this Christmas season,” said Karmela Jesena, general manager of Festive Walk Iloilo.
Festive Walk Iloilo will hold the ceremonial lighting of the lanterns on Nov. 5, which will be graced by Hon. Mayor Jerry Treñas, PCCI Iloilo led by PCCI President Atty. Jobert Penaflorida, Chairperson Dr. Sandra Sarabia Gomez and incoming President Mr. Fulbert Woo, as well as representatives of BJMP, including JCInsp. Kate G. Beltran, the Provincial Jail Administrator of Iloilo Province, JO3 Rosalie P. Taleon and JO3 Gemma B. Sencil.
Festive Walk Iloilo is located at Iloilo Business Park, Mandurriao, Iloilo City. For more information, follow Festive Walk Mall and Megaworld Lifestyle Malls on Facebook and Instagram or visit megaworld-lifestylemalls.com.
