The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws are looking to end its UAAP Season 86 Men’s Volleyball Tournament preliminary campaign on a high note after blanking the Adamson University, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22, on April 9, 2024, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

With the lopsided victory, the Tamaraws just clinched its fifth consecutive win and are still sitting at the no. 1 spot of the league standings with an impressive win-loss record of 9-1.

If FEU wins its next match on April 13, 2024, against their rival school University of Santo Tomas (UST), the squad will have the chance to lock up the no. 1 seed and gain an advantage when the Final Four kicks off.

Fresh off a five-set marathon win over league contenders De La Salle University (DLSU), FEU showed their adjustments against Adamson and played one of their best volleyball outings in the ongoing second round.

FEU quickly buckled to work and didn’t start slow this time against Adamson as their signature explosive offensive sets wore Adamson down from the get-go.

Despite quick middle closeouts deployed by Adamson to prevent any easy scores, FEU’s fiery streak wouldn’t be denied as they continued to score at will.

In the third set, Adamson attempted to claw their way back after inching closer to FEU when they finally regained their offensive groove.

However, with the heroics of Martin Bugaoan and Jayjay Javelona, FEU officially fended them off in the most crucial stretch of the match after the duo spearheaded the Tamaraws’ final scoring avalanche.

Bugaoan stole the limelight during FEU’s huge win and top-scored his school with 11 points built from nine successful attacks while Javelona chipped in nine markers.

Meanwhile, FEU’s star setter, Ariel Cacao, ran their offensive sets to perfection as the orchestrator dished out 17 excellent sets.
