Filipina-American mixed martial artist Jackie Buntan was quick to introduce herself after an impressive debut win against veteran Wondergirl Fairtex in ONE: Fists of Fury.
First-time jitters were not a factor for the Fil-Am after convincingly outworking Fairtex in their Muay Thai clash.
Buntan’s insane speed and high-octane pace allowed her to get the clear advantage over Fairtex who was just blinded by fast 1-2 combinations and in-and-out sneaky hits.
With a few seconds left in the first round, Buntan was able to bait Fairtex that opened up her upper guard to send a vicious and clean left hook for the only knockdown of the fight.
Buntan was able to continue her intensity and kept on moving forward up until the later rounds to give her the unanimous decision victory.
“I’m lost for words, I have 100% confidence in my training and my coaches, and I brought that here in the cage tonight,” Buntan said.
Buntan was born to pure Filipino parents but was raised in California until she grew up and found her love for combat sports.
The Fil-Am is currently training under the supervision of the Boxing Works Gym where ONE champion Janet Todd also does her camp.
