BACOLOD City – Provincial Commission on Elections (Comelec) supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria said that the final number of voters in Negros Occidental is expected to be released this month.
Ananoria said around two million registered voters are expected to vote in the 2022 polls, making Negros Occidental among the richest voting populations all over the country.
The top five vote rich provinces outside National Capital Region in the 2019 elections were Cebu, Cavite, Pangasinan, Laguna and Negros Occidental.
Ananoria said they already completed the Nov 10, 2021 hearing of the Election Registration Board, with final verification to be conducted next week by the poll agency.
Presently, there are 1.9 million Negrense registered voters.
Ananoria also urged voters to check their names in the master list once it is released to avoid confusion on election day.
He also said that the Comelec will also make adjustments by limiting the number of voters in a polling precinct because of the pandemic.
The Comelec earlier announced that the voting period for the May 9, 2022 elections will run from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., an hour longer than the last general polls.
