BACOLOD CITY – A furniture shop sustained partial damage after a fire broke out along Lacson Extension, Liroville Subdivision, Barangay Singcang-Airport, on Monday.

The fire started around 12 noon in the wooden storage room located on the second floor of the establishment.

Fire Officer 2 Rolin Paulan, arson investigator of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod, said a makeshift male barracks was also situated on the second floor.

Paulan stated that the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical ignition, although evidence is still being gathered.

He added that clearing the area was challenging due to the large amount of hardwood present, as firefighters ensured the fire would not rekindle.

The blaze resulted in PHP 225,000 worth of property damage, but no injuries were reported.

Fire out was declared at 12:13 p.m., according to Paulan.
