BACOLOD City – Around 26 houses were initially gutted by fire at Barangay Singcang-Airport here yesterday.
Village chief Rosinie Distrito told reporters that the fire which broke out past 4 p.m., initially affected around 45 households.
Distrito said the firetruck had difficulty penetrating the area at first because the area was crowded.
“Ikit-ikit ang mga panimalay,” he added.
Distrito said fire victims will be temporarily sheltered in a school and modular tents. The city government has also assured the distribution of food assistance to the affected households.
Distrito said that no casualties were reported, although there were some residents who suffered minor injuries when they tried to help each other put out the fire.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) declared fire out around 5:21 p.m.
Arson investigators have yet to determine the cause of fire.
