BACOLOD City – Police are eyeing misunderstanding as possible motive behind the death of a fish vendor in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Killed was Edgar Dela Pena, 36, of the said village.

Police Lieutenant Alfonso Precia, deputy police chief of Cadiz City Police Station, said Dela Pena and the suspect identified as Joseph Dela Cruz figured in a heated argument in front of the victim’s house.

However, Dela Cruz, armed with an improvised shotgun, shot Dela Pena, hitting his buttocks.

Precia said that Ricky Inocencio, 43, who was near the victim and was just standing in front of his house, was wounded when he was hit by a stray bullet in the buttocks.

“May away na na abi ang ila pamilya nga nag ugat sa mga kabataan, tapos sila nag intra naman guro,” Precia said.

Precia said that Dela Cruz is at large and will be charged for homicide.
