BACOLOD City – Two cousins and a fisherman died in two separate drowning incidents in Negros Occidental last Saturday.

In Cadiz City, two minors aged 6 died after they drowned in a river at Barangay Andres Bonifacio.

Police withheld the names of the two victims who were Grade 1 pupils.

A report from Cadiz City Police Station said that both victims went swimming in the river, a kilometer away from their house when their Aunt noticed that they were nowhere to be found.

She asked assistance from barangay watchmen to look for the children and later found their bodies floating in the river.

Both victims were rushed to a hospital, where they were declared dead.

In Sipalay City, Marlon Banlos died after he drowned while he went fishing with his family at Campomanes Bay early that day.

According to the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Banlos, along with his wife, and 15-year-old son went fishing around 5 a.m.

He dived into the sea but he failed to ascend from the water. His son tried to rescue him but he failed because the water was too deep.

They called for assistance and authorities retrieved the victim’s body from a 32-feet deep sea level after 30 minutes.
