Fisherman nabbed for repeatedly molesting kin

A fisherman was arrested following allegations that he sexually molested a kin.

Rey (not his real name), 33, was collared at his house in San Lorenzo,  Guimaras around 7:20 p.m. on June 29.

Members of San Lorenzo Municipal Station, together with Guimaras Police Provincial Office – Provincial Intelligence Unit (GPPO-PIU), implemented the arrest through a warrant issued against Gajo who is charged for rape in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act) docketed as Criminal Case Numbers 23-3865,  23-3866, 23-3868 and 23-3869.

He was also accused of violation of Section 5, Para 2 (B) of RA 7610 docketed under CC No. 23-3867.

Judge Rosario Abegail M. Dris-Villanueva of the Regional Trial Court Branch 65 in Jordan, Guimaras issued the arrest warrants on June 26, 2023.

No bail was recommended for his four counts of rape while a P180,000 bail was recommended for the RA 7610 case.

Captain Andres Somes, Jr., San Lorenzo police chief, said that the rape incidents happened in early 2023.

With the help of her aunt, the 10-year-old complainant pursued the case against the suspect.

A few years ago, the victim had also lodged a complaint against the suspect but another relative meddled until the case was junked.

Somes said the victim had two younger sisters aged 7 and 5.

The complainant claimed that she was afraid that the suspect will also molest her younger sisters.
