BACOLOD City – Search and rescue operation is ongoing to locate a fisherman who reportedly went missing for three days now in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.

The fisherman was identified as Maximino Hingaray, 69, of Barangay Alim.

Police Captain Ramel Bustamante, Hinoba-an town police chief, said Hingaray left their house around 8 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2022 to go fishing. But he failed to go home later that day, according to his wife.

The following day, Hingaray’s boat was found by a group of fishermen drifting on the sea around 4 p.m. They then brought the boat to the shore for safekeeping.

Bustamante said they could not tell yet what really happened to Hingaray unless he surfaces.

“Indi ta mabal-an kung ano gid ang natabo kay basi nag lain lang iya matyag or basi na anod siya sa isa ka lugar,” the police chief said.

Bustamante said that one factor that’s causing difficulty for rescuers is the weather because of Tropical Storm “Paeng” which caused heavy rainfall.
