BACOLOD CITY — A 24-year-old fitness coach was arrested with 675 grams of suspected shabu valued at PHP 4.59 million during a police operation in Barangay Sum-ag yesterday.

Police Capt. Genus David, assistant team leader of the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), said the suspect, identified as “Faisal” from Barangay 31, had been under surveillance for months. Authorities had identified him as an alleged major supplier of illegal drugs in the city.

David described Faisal as a high-value target and a sub-leader of a drug group, though the group had been largely dismantled.

The seized illegal drugs were reportedly sourced from outside Negros Occidental, but David withheld further details pending additional investigation.

David also noted that Faisal had been previously arrested for a drug offense as a minor, cementing his involvement in the city’s high-level drug trade.

David said the operation is expected to significantly reduce the supply of illegal drugs in Bacolod City.

Police Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, emphasized the department’s continued commitment to dismantling illegal drug networks and ensuring public safety.

“These intelligence-driven operations underscore our relentless pursuit to combat the proliferation of illegal drugs in Bacolod City,” Coronica said.
