Five newly-constructed and renovated buildings within the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) headquarters at Camp Martin Delgado, Iloilo City were inaugurated on Monday, April 18.

Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, led the blessing and inauguration of the infrastructure projects.

These include the giant LED wall located in front of the Camp Delgado grandstand. The wall is 5.40 meters in height, 10 meters wide and made up of LED screens.

This project shows information graphics and visual presentations of all the activities in Camp Delgado. It can also be utilized during the live streaming, film showing, and Zumba sessions.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert Gorero, chief of the Regional Plans Division and concurrent officer-in-charge of the PRO-6 Public Information Office (PIO), said they have also renovated the Madia-as Hall, which will now be utilized as the new PRO-6 main conference room.

The Pan-ay Hall, which used to be the command’s canteen and later used as a classroom, was renovated to house the Regional Police Strategy Management Unit (RPSMU) recruitment office and classroom for Base Camp schooling.

Gorero said PRO-6 also inaugurated the building of the Women and Children and Protection Desk (WCPD), which caters to abused women and children in need of assistance.

The motorpool was renovated in order to become more responsive in the repair of vehicles due for maintenance.

Gorero said they re-roofed the whole building, cleared the whole area by removing safety hazards, strengthened the foundation of the building; and repainted it.

Monday’s activity also saw the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the new Regional Crime Laboratory building.

Pamuspusan said the improvement of the camp facilities is anchored in PRO-6’s strategy dubbed as “Stronger PRO-6,” which has 3 major thrusts – sustained reformation, internal cleansing and pro- active and smart policing.

Under sustained reformation is infrastructure and development.

“This only shows that if funds are properly utilized, there will be lots of improvement in the workplace,” Pamuspusan said.
