Five more COVID-19 cases in WV, regional tally now at 30

Five more confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) were recorded in Western Visayas Friday, bringing the region’s tally to 30, according to the Department of Health (DOH) 6.

Four of the five new cases were from Lambunao, Iloilo who are close contacts of WV Patient No. 16.

Authorities are still verifying if the four new cases belong to the same family of the first two cases in Lambunao.

So far, Lambunao has six confirmed COVID-19 cases with one death, the highest in Iloilo province.

The profile of the new cases are:

WV 26: 48-year-old, male from Bacolod City, with travel history in Los Angeles, USA and Manila; with hypertension and polymyositis; close contact of WV 14; still with dry cough but in stable condition;

WV 27: 39-year-old female from Lambunao, Iloilo; asymptomatic; close contact of WV 16; under home quarantine;

WV 28: 41-year-old male from Lambunao, Iloilo; asymptomatic; close contact of WV 16; under home quarantine;

WV 29: 70-year-old female from Lambunao, Iloilo; asymptomatic; close contact of WV 16; under home quarantine;

WV 30: 48-year-old female from Lambunao, Iloilo; asymptomatic; close contact of WV 16; under home quarantine.

Iloilo province tops the tally of confirmed cases with 11, Bacolod City with seven, Aklan with five, Capiz and Iloilo City with three cases each, and Negros Occidental with one.

Antique and Guimaras remain COVID-19 free.
