BACOLOD City – Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran on Sunday confirmed that a 65-year-old woman has tested positive of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the total number of cases to nine.
Familiaran said that the latest patient is a resident of Purok Bayanihan, Barangay Banago.
She had cough on April 3 and sought consultation at the City Health Office on April 17. Her swab was taken for PCR testing that was sent to the Iloilo bio lab on April 20, he added.
The vice mayor said the woman, who has been staying in her house and has no history of travel, has tuberculosis.
A second test has been conducted to verify the results.
Meanwhile, five other patients have recovered after their confirmatory test yielded negative results. One patient is still admitted while two died, City Health Office record indicated.
The swab tests of the five recoveries were among the 53 negative results received by Bacolod City Health Office last week. The other tests were on their close contacts.
The residences of the five recovered COVID-19 patients were no longer considered as ultra risk areas.
