Floyd Mayweather pledges payment for George Floyd’s memorial services

One of boxing’s greatest athletes, Floyd Mayweather, has vowed to pay for George Floyd’s memorial services and funeral on June 9, 2020.

Mayweather reached out to Floyd’s family which accepted the offer and until now is keeping in touch according to Leonard Ellerbe, CEO of Mayweather Promotions.

George Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police last week as former police officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck while two other officers restrained him. A fourth officer stood by as it happened.

A funeral for Floyd will be held in his hometown on June 9 as per family attorney Ben Crump.

George Floyd’s death has caused widespread riots and looting all across the United States.

Several actors and athletes also expressed their sentiments about what happened including NBA players Stephen Jackson, Trae Young, Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson, and NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith.
