A foreign chamber is set to open an office in Iloilo City to spur business activities and investments in the city.

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) headed by Executive Director Florian Gottein visited the office of Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

The group bared their plans of expanding their operations in Iloilo City by establishing an office – the first foreign chamber office in the metro, the mayor revealed.

“Nag-courtesy call ang European Chamber of Commerce nga maset-up na sila opisina diri sa syudad. You know this is really a milestone in Iloilo City because this is the first foreign chamber of commerce nga mabutang diri sang ila nga opisina,” he said in an interview shortly after he was proclaimed by the Iloilo City Board of Canvassers on Wednesday.

According to the mayor, the new development shows that the city has a positive economic outlook especially that it is already within the radar of big businesses.

“Ini nagapakita lang nga ara na kita sa radar sang mga dalagko nga negosyo kag kon mayo ang aton pagpadalagan sa syudad kag manami ang environment para sa negosyo madamo pa gid ang masulod diri sa aton para makahatag trabaho sa aton,” he added.

Treñas who secured his second term in office in the recently concluded 2022 polls said that Ilonggos can expect more projects and programs which they can be proud of in the coming years.

“Madamo pa kita programa nga ginapatuman. Ang mga markets kag plazas ginaubra naman kag madamo pa sang infrastructures kita nga i-construct. I think the Ilonggos will have something to be very proud of in the coming years to come,” he said. (DG)
