Four Indian nationals were arrested in a hot pursuit operation evening of Dec. 17, 2023 in Iloilo City.

Chit Simran Singh Gill and Dilpreet Singh, both residents of Alta Tierra Village, Jaro, Iloilo City; Bhathal Gurcharan Singh of Barangay Dulunan, Arevalo, Iloilo City; and Lebhpreet Singh of VML Subd., Barangay North Fundidor, Molo, Iloilo City, were apprehended for mauling and stabbing another Indian national.

Captain Mavin Laraño, Iloilo City Police Station 6 chief, said the suspects went binge drinking and decided to pay an unannounced visit at the rented house of 26-year-old Arwinder Singh at Barangay Dulunan, Arevalo.

(The suspects and victim are not related by blood or affinity).

Laraño said the suspects, whose ages ranged from 20 to 30 years old, have been bullying Arwinder.

“We can’t establish why they decided to go to the victim’s house. But when they arrived, there was a heated argument between the victim and the four suspects,” she said,

The suspects subsequently ganged up on the victim.

They also smashed a bottle on the suspect’s head and stabbed him in the abdomen.

They immediately fled after the incident.

Laraño said police arrested one of the four suspects in Molo district.

He then pointed to policemen where the three other suspects could be found. The remaining assailants were later collared at Barangay Quezon, Arevalo.

The victim was brought to West Visayas State University Medical Center and was released several hours later.

“Apparently, there was no intent to kill. Maybe, they were too drunk and decided to just attack the victim for no apparent reason or cause,” Laraño said.

The four suspects would be charged with frustrated murder while one of them would be charged with illegal possession of a deadly weapon.
