Police have identified four persons behind the hacking incident evening of July 22, 2022 in Janiuay, Iloilo that left three teenagers wounded.
But Lieutenant Princees Stephanie Paradero, January police chief, declined to give more details on the persons of interest pending further investigation.
Based on police assessment, it appeared that there was no compelling motive for the suspects to attack the victims.
“Daw tripping lang gid,” Paradero said.
The attack injured both arms of 19-year-old Christian Jan Mamon. His cousin Wilson (not his real name), 16, was wounded on the left arm while another cousin, 17-year-old Renren (also not his real name), suffered a leg wound.
Earlier that day, the victims went to the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) to beat the voter’s registration deadline.
It was around 9 p.m. Friday that the group decided to go home to Barangay Aglobong, Janiuay.
They were at the town plaza at Barangay Don T. Lutero when the four suspects approached them.
Two suspects attacked them with bolos. The assailants immediately fled on foot after the incident.
The two minor victims were rushed to Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay town.
Mamon, on the other hand, was taken to Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo.
