BACOLOD City – Four persons were injured in separate hacking incidents in Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
In Sagay City, Grovy Alayon, 46, of Barangay Colonia Divina, was walking to a sugarcane field when he was reportedly waylaid by John Camelote, 58, of the said village.
Police Lieutenant Abundio Diaz Jr., deputy police chief of Sagay City Police Station, said the two figured in an altercation that probably triggered Camelote – who was armed with a bolo – to allegedly hack Alayon’s right arm.
Alayon, also armed with a bolo, retaliated, hitting Camelote’s both hands, Diaz said.
Camelote fled but he was later arrested in a pursuit operation at his residence.
Diaz said they are eyeing grudges as motive in the incident, adding that both had previous misunderstandings.
Diaz said Alayon is still confined in a hospital while Camelote, who suffered minor injuries, will be charged for frustrated homicide.
In Silay City, Erwin Rodrigo, 34, of Barangay Rizal; and Nestor Hermogenes, 66, of Victorias City suffered minor injuries after they were allegedly attacked by a 24-year-old man from Antique who is reportedly suffering from nervous breakdown.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Robert Petate, Silay City police chief, said Rodrigo and Hermogenes were unloading sand from a tractor at Hacienda Paz Matagoy, Barangay Rizal, when the suspect, who was allegedly armed with two bolos, suddenly appeared and hacked them for no reason at all.
The victims were taken to a hospital and were later discharged.
Petate said the suspect’s contractor and the victims had an initial talk about the incident.
But Petate refused to give details out of respect for the privacy of both parties.
